FAMOUS people will be gazing out from gardens in Long Lee and Thwaites Brow this weekend.

The annual Scarecrow Festival, featuring a host of replica celebrities and historical figures, will take place on Sunday July 7 between 10am and 4pm.

Following on from last year’s successful event when more than 30 scarecrows were on display around the village, this year residents are creating a wide variety of scarecrows based on a music theme.

Maps of the Scarecrow Trail are available from Long Lee Village Hall, where refreshments will be available.

Local people and visitors alike will be able to vote for their favourite scarecrow after following the trail, with a prize for the one with the most nominations.

There will also be face painting and a children’s craft workshop in the Village Hall. All funds raised are in aid of the hall.
