A NEW Keighley dance group has been launched – and is hoping potential backers will step forward.

Revive Dancers, which trains in the town's civic centre, is seeking sponsorship.

The 36-strong group, led by owners and choreographers Michelle Chapman and Karen Scott-Hudson, caters for young people aged from five to 20.

There are four teams, based on age, which learn street and commercial-style dance.

They will perform locally and in regional and national competitions.

Michelle said: "Karen and I have been friends for 17 years and have been involved in the world of dance since we were five, starting out dancing and then moving into choreographing as well as judging dance competitions.

"We both have an enthusiasm for dance and pride ourselves on sharing our choreography and teaching skills with young people for free.

"Running dance schools has always been a voluntary passion and we take enjoyment from spending time with the young people, competing and – more than anything – being a dancing family.

"We want to offer talented young people in the area the opportunity to be part of an exciting dance club."

Karen said the group would like to hear from any businesses interested in sponsoring the teams, so it could buy training kits and costumes for competitions.

"All the people involved with Revive are volunteers and our aim is to try to keep costs down to a minimum for parents," she added.
