THE MAIN organiser of Haworth’s Groovy Happening music night has stepped down after 100 events.
Ann Wiles presided over the raising of £34,000 for Manorlands by a team of volunteers through the popular monthly concerts.
Hundreds of solo performers and bands, most from the local area, have played to an appreciative audience of regulars at the Parkside Social Club.
Sue Burke, one of the remaining team members, said Groovy would continue because Ann had built strong foundations .
She said: “Ann has forged strong links with many musicians and the local community to enable us to carry on.
“She had the vision in the first place and we will all miss her, although we are hoping she will be a frequent attendee! She left us volunteers with a legacy which we all value too much to let her down.”
