SETTLE Photographic Group’s Annual Exhibition, held in Clapham Village Hall recently, was once again highly successful.
Many visitors from far and wide came to look at the very varied images. Subjects ranged from steam trains to landscapes to still life and more.
At last year’s tenth exhibition, an exciting challenge had been set for members - to try something they had never done before and thus to develop their skills over the year. The winner was Yvonne Fairclough with her fascinating use of backlit, under-exposed images of flora.
Settle Photographic Group encourages its members to develop their photographic skills by, for example, having inspiring visiting speakers and sessions where certain photographic issues are explained.
The last session, for example, was on black and white photography and how to create the best images both in camera and post processing. Nearly every month there is also a trip out to somewhere to take photographs. Locations chosen vary widely; it could be trip into a cave, a town centre, or somewhere more gently rural.
Members of the group come from Settle and the surrounding villages from Litton to Ingleton.
