FILMGOERS will soon be able to watch new movies at the Richard Whiteley Theatre, the arts and performance venue in Giggleswick.

Selected latest films will be shown from this autumn at the professional arts venue, based at leading northern independent Giggleswick School, near Settle.

The first two on the billing are The Lion King and Downton Abbey, which will both be screened on Sunday October 20.

Disney’s The Lion King tells the story of Simba, the lion cub born to be king. The show starts at 2.30pm. Downton Abbey is the long-awaited film of the hit TV series about the Crawley family and their servants and will screen at 6.30pm.

Tickets for The Lion King and Downton Abbey are available through Richard Whiteley Theatre’s website www.giggleswick.org.uk/RWT costing £6.50 in advance. A limited number will be available on the door for £8.50.

Richard Whiteley Theatre manager Mike Offland said: “For the first time, people in the Giggleswick and Settle area will be able to see the latest cinema favourites without having to travel to Skipton, Kendal, Lancaster or beyond.

“The Richard Whiteley Theatre is equipped to the latest cinematic and performance standards. Our film shows promise to be enjoyable and comfortable – and there will be the usual refreshments available in line with a trip to the pictures!”
