JOHN D Anderson was the speaker at a meeting of Keighley Soroptimists.
He described research he’d carried out on women of the British Empire who had died in active service during the First World War.
Mr Anderson spoke about the various military attachments of women, who were not allowed to be soldiers at that time.
There were many nursing sisters from various organisations.
Other sectors included the Women’s Royal Naval Service.
And in the Royal Air Force, 100 women died in service.
