A NEW campaign has been launched to support households in the region anxious about how they will pay their heating bills this winter.
Latest figures, for 2017, show that 8.8 per cent of homes in Yorkshire are ‘fuel poor’ – meaning their energy costs are above average and that their disposable income after paying bills puts them below the poverty line.
Now OFTEC, the trade body representing the oil heating industry, is offering support and advice to vulnerable households on how they can cut their fuel costs without having to turn down the heating.
As part of the campaign, it is also spotlighting energy payment and saving schemes.
Malcolm Farrow, for OFTEC, said: “We know that many households will struggle with their heating costs this winter, which is why it is crucial those living in fuel poverty know about the benefits and schemes that may be available to them as well as receiving advice.”
