A STAIRLIFT engineer has given a pre-Christmas boost to Keighley Salvation Army.

Keen runner Chris Elrick, of Platinum Stairlifts at Cross Hills, has donated a pile of teddy bears to the High Street church.

They will be distributed to disadvantaged children in time for Christmas Day.

It is the third year that Chris, with the support of colleagues at Platinum Stairlifts, has collected teddies through his running exploits.

This year he took part in the Ilkley Half-Marathon – and also tackled a Salford Quays swimming event.

“The run was a hot and sweaty one but the swim was freezing – however I smashed both!” said Chris.

“Platinum Stairlifts helped me collect the soft toys. And the number of family, friends and customers who contributed was overwhelming. I was extremely grateful for the support.

“I am so glad I can contribute again to such a great cause.”

Chris Bown, community manager at Keighley Salvation Army, pays tribute.

She said: “We are delighted with Chris’ support again and would like to say a huge thank-you to him and all those who contributed.”
