GENEROUS staff at a Steeton company stepped up to the mark in response to a plea from Manorlands.

Acorn Stairlifts – a long-time supporter of the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice – arranged for a stairlift to be fitted within days in the home of patient Linda Kelly, who could no longer manage her stairs.

The complexity of the job was increased by the fact the staircase is curved.

But by chance, Acorn’s Sarah Davis was contacted by a customer struggling to sell a stairlift produced for similar stairs.

“When I told her about Mrs Kelly she really wanted to help and offered her stairlift free of charge if we could manage the relocation,” said Sarah.

The stairlift was removed, taken to the Acorn factory for servicing and then fitted in Mrs Kelly’s home, all within two days.

“Mr and Mrs Kelly were over the moon that not only were we able to help them, but we managed to do it so quickly,” said Sarah, who thanked the original owner of the stairlift for her generosity.

A few days later, Linda’s husband Brian visited the company’s head office with a bouquet of flowers and giant chocolate bunny for Sarah as a thank-you.
