PLANS to install a sign directing people to a Riddlesden pub would "cause confusion" according to planning officers.
The application would have seen a sign, pointing to the Marquis of Granby, installed at the junction of Granby Lane and Bradford Road.
The sign would be opposite the entrance to National Trust property East Riddlesden Hall, and would be similar to the signs seen on major roads throughout the country directing people to tourist attractions.

But planning officers pointed out that this planned sign was not officially part of the Highway Authority's tourist brown sign scheme.
Refusing the application, officers said: "It is a sign that masquerades as an official 'brown sign.'
"As such this may set a precedent and cause confusion.
"An advance sign that is remote from the business would set a precedent for similar signage on the verge and on the street furniture which would have cumulative impacts on amenity."
