A SIGN directing people to a Riddlesden pub would “cause confusion”, according to planning officers.
An application to install the sign, in the style of the official ‘brown signs’ pointing people towards tourist attractions, has been rejected.
It was proposed to erect the sign, for the Marquis of Granby, at the junction of Granby Lane and Bradford Road.
But planning officers said it was not officially part of the Highways England tourist brown sign scheme.
Refusing the application, officers said: “It is a sign that masquerades as an official ‘brown sign’. As such this may set a precedent and cause confusion. An advance sign that is remote from the business would set a precedent for similar signage on the verge and on the street.”
