“ENTHUSIASTIC and passionate” staff were praised by Keighley MP Robbie Moore when he visited University Academy Keighley.

Mr Moore met staff and students who were giving up some of their holidays for the UAK’s Summer School and Healthy Lifestyle projects.

Head of School Jon Skurr said it was wonderful to be able to showcase the learning activities that had been taking place in recent weeks.

He said: “I would like to thank the amazing students who have given so much during this period and special thanks to the staff who have made it a wonderful experience.

“After years of negative publicity the University Academy Keighley reputation continues to grow.”

Mr Moore said: “I was bowled over by the staff who are genuinely enthusiastic and passionate about creating a great learning environment for their students.

“It was great to see the summer school in action with over 70 children taking part and a further 50 getting involved with the Healthy Schools Project.

“It is encouraging therefore to see approximately 25 per cent of their entire school student body voluntarily attending the summer school to further their education.

“The school has come along way over the past few years, something of which the staff, students and Head of School Jon Skurr should be very proud.”
