TWO town councillors have made a clean sweep this weekend to help clear village pathways.

Luke Maunsell and Mark Curtis, both Oakworth ward members of Keighley Town Council, swept paths to clear them of leaves.

They – together with Mrs Judy Curtis – targeted sections of Station Road, Park Avenue and Colne Road.

Their action came after several concerns were raised about slippery pathways and fears for elderly residents in particular.

The councillors say the project is one of many they plan to take on in the ward and are keen to hear from other people interested in volunteering.

They said: “Both of us are committed to serving the people of our ward in any way possible. Doing small tasks like this is a great way to help residents and do our little bit to make their life easier, especially in these tough times. We are looking out for more projects including supporting the maintenance of the sensory gardens.”
