A CROSS Hills company is enjoying a wave of success.

Ellie Clare, operations manager at Wave Refrigeration, took a coveted honour in the national Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Cooling Awards.

She scooped the silver award in the Student of the Year category.

Judges praised her commitment to learning new skills and said she had “huge potential to succeed” in the industry.

Tribute is paid by Wave founder, James Bailey.

He said: “Ellie joined the company in 2018 – she possessed a willingness to learn and wanted to forge a career.

“Providing Ellie with an opportunity that she has grabbed with both hands is a career high for me personally – she has fitted seamlessly into our business culture.”

He also expresses his pride about another former trainee, Sam Cameron, from Oxenhope, recently promoted to engineer manager.

Ellie said she was delighted with the award.

She added: “When I left school I didn’t know what I wanted to do.

“Although I never thought I would end-up in the refrigeration industry, I would not change my decision.”
