NORTH Yorkshire Police have today announced the number of Fixed Penalty Notices issued between December 2 and January 5 for coronavirus breaches.

A total of 355 FPNs have been issued between those dates with the most offences taking place in Scarborough, followed by York and then Craven, Harrogate and Hambleton respectively.

Each of the county's seven districts reported FPNs handed out for breaches.

In Craven four visitors were handed penalties for breaching indoor gathering rules.

When the third lockdown was announced on Monday night, North Yorkshire Police said it would prosecute anyone who did not adhere to the rules and advised people to stay at home unless it was necessary to venture out.
