A HAWORTH florist has spoken of her pride at being chosen to create the wreath laid on behalf of the Queen in Keighley today as a tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore.

Annie Milner, who runs Rosa Rugosa in Mill Hey, was asked by Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire David Pearson to make the wreath.

She used 200 white Mondial roses.

"I felt very proud to be chosen to help create a fitting tribute to such a wonderful local hero," said Annie.

"The brief the Deputy Lieutenant gave me was to imagine that Her Majesty the Queen herself would be laying the wreath."

Mr Pearson, who lives in Haworth, said he felt it was appropriate to commission someone local and that Rosa Rugosa was “the obvious choice”.

He laid the floral tribute in Town Hall Square, to mark the day of Captain Sir Tom's funeral.

Wreaths were also placed by Keighley MP Robbie Moore and the town’s mayor and mayoress, Peter Corkindale and Clare Abberton.
