UMAR Ghafoor has been chosen by Labour to contest the Worth Valley ward at May’s Bradford Council elections.
The 31-year-old – who lives in Bradford – is a general manager with GLL, a charitable social enterprise that works with local authorities and runs leisure centres for communities.
“I am extremely passionate about helping people and want to give back and support communities in every way that I can,” he said.
“I will try to represent everyone, especially the youth of Worth Valley, to ensure voices are heard.”
The elections take place on May 6.
In addition to the Bradford Council poll, there is also the West Yorkshire mayoral election and in some areas, parish elections and Neighbourhood Planning referendums.
