A NATIONAL book launch takes place in Haworth on Thursday (April 29).

Matson Taylor will be at Wave of Nostalgia – in Main Street – at noon to launch the paperback version of his debut novel, The Miseducation of Evie Epworth.

The book has received rave reviews, with one describing it as “Cold Comfort Farm meets Adrian Mole in the funniest debut novel of the year”.

Set in Yorkshire in the 1960s, the story centres on what type of woman 16-year-old Evie – whose life until then had been a patchwork of school, Girl Guides, cows and milk deliveries – will become.

Matson grew-up in Yorkshire but now lives in London. He is a design historian who teaches at the V&A, Imperial College and the Royal College of Art.

He chose this area for the book launch because “I miss Yorkshire folk and it seemed the right thing to do!”

Wave of Nostalgia owner, Diane Park, said Matson would be bringing with him a surprise guest.

“No clues – but we should be all right for milk for our tea!” she said. “Everyone is invited along for a Covid-friendly chance to meet Matson and get hold of a signed copy of his book.”
