KEIGHLEY artist Ben Snowden is staging a solo exhibition later this year.

And his work is being included in a prestigious event in the summer.

Ben’s solo venture, Living in The Natural World, will take place at The Bingley Gallery from August 12 to September 26.

All the paintings have been created from recycled materials.

“I have a firm belief that art can be created from anything – you just have to be resourceful and think beyond surface value,” says Ben.

“The natural world is a wonderful and mysterious place, where creation is opposed by destruction in a constant battle to find harmony. This exhibition will explore the world’s natural elements of land, sea and sky and how our human presence affects these forces of nature.

“The paintings are inspired by how people engage and adapt to the outside world’s ever-changing moods. It’s the choices and actions of people that really transform the natural world into a positive or negative space. The world should be respected, as not everything is built to last!”

Ben has also had a painting entered into the New Light Prize Exhibition, which takes place at The Biscuit Factory, Newcastle, from June 4 to August 29.

The event has become one of the UK’s largest and most talked-about open exhibitions.

Ben says his main focus is on creating work that “evokes the senses” and communicates a “positive and constructive” view of the world – and it has brought him considerable success.

He has been a finalist in a number of art competitions and events, from the National Open Art Competition to the Bath Open Art Prize.

His work has been exhibited across the UK and Europe, including alongside the likes of David Hockney and Sir Terry Frost.

In 2019, he was amongst those displaying work at Made in Britain in Gdansk – the first exhibition of British artwork in Poland for 40 years.

Ben predominantly works with enamels, spray paints, graphite and household paints – on everyday materials such as paper, board, card, textiles and wood.
