THE name of a young Bradford soldier killed in action in Korea has been added to Bradford’s war memorial in the city centre.
Corporal David F. Kenehan, 19, who was from Thornbury, died in 1953.
A newspaper clipping from the time reported he joined the 1st battalion, Duke of Wellington’s Regiment, in October 1951. He served six months in Germany and was posted to Korea in September 1952.
The paper reported: “A National Service man, he was due to return home at the end of the year. He was an old boy of St Mary’s Roman Catholic School, East Parade, Bradford.”
Plans are underway for a memorial service to be held when possible.
Malcolm Atkinson, who has played a major part in his name being added, has appealed for any relatives to get in touch with him.
He can be contacted on 01274 501976.
