WEST Yorkshire mayor Tracy Brabin has given her backing to Pride month.

She pledged her support for the initiative as she met members of the West Yorkshire Police LGBT+ staff association.

And Ms Brabin spoke about the importance of further boosting inclusivity within the force.

She said: “I have heard about the ongoing work in West Yorkshire Police to promote inclusivity, equality and diversity. These are themes that represent the golden thread which runs through my own priorities and specifically my pledge to appoint an inclusivity champion to work to ensure the region’s recovery benefits us all.

“It is clear there is already a tremendous amount of work taking place to ensure West Yorkshire Police is more representative of its communities. However, there is still more which can be achieved. Together with the deputy mayor for policing and crime, I will be looking at how we can continue to integrate the knowledge and experience we have collectively gathered whilst identifying new ways to build upon it.”
