FIREFIGHTERS managed to stop a car blaze spreading to an adjacent house early this morning.
The Honda CR-V had been abandoned and set alight outside the terraced property in Highfield Lane, Keighley.
Some damage had already been caused to the outside of the house, and another vehicle, when firefighters arrived at the scene just after 2am.
But the crew, wearing breathing apparatus and using a hose reel jet, stopped the fire spreading inside the house.
"There was a bit of damage to the front of the property – the guttering and window sill had begun to melt – but we concentrated initially on stopping the fire spreading and managed to catch it in time," said fire service crew commander Jack Furbisher.
"Had we arrived a couple of minutes later, the situation could have been very different."
One crew from Keighley fire station attended.
Police are investigating the incident.
