KEIGHLEY parents and guardians are being offered free support to help their children make the most of online gaming – and protect them from pitfalls.

A panel of experts will be on hand with advice in hour-long ‘webinars’ being staged by Get Safe Online, a cyber security awareness portal.

A session takes place at 10am next Thursday (June 24) for parents and guardians of children aged 12 to 15, with the 15-18 age group being covered on Wednesday, June 30.

A spokesman said: “Online gaming has seen a massive increase in popularity with children during the pandemic, as a result of more time spent at home and restrictions on physical social contact.

“As grandparents, parents or guardians of children, people are very welcome to join one of our free Gaming4Good webinars.

“Our panel of experts in family gaming will discuss the psychology, gaming risks and finance, how to approach your child’s gaming to help them get the most out of it – and avoiding the pitfalls.”

Panellists include Liz Stanton of Get Safe Online, Annette Whalley from HSBC, cyber trauma and psychology specialist Cath Knibbs, gaming and gambling expert Adrian Sladdin and author Andy Robertson.
