HAWORTH Band is staging its first concert since February last year.

The band, a registered charity, had to cancel all its engagements after the pandemic broke out.

But it will open a new concert season with a performance on ‘home soil’ this month.

Members will play at the bandstand in Central Park, Haworth, on Sunday, June 27, from 2pm.

A spokesman said: “Hopefully the weather will be good and everyone can enjoy listening to a varied programme of well-known brass band music, marches, musicals and modern and classical pieces.

“As all Covid restrictions have not yet been eased, social distancing may be required.”

The band welcomes new members – it has particular vacancies for second horn, euphonium and B flat bass players.

Rehearsals are held at Haworth Village Hall every Monday, at 8pm.

Full cleaning and sanitising measures are in place.

And members are using the main hall so that social distancing can be observed.

The band is available to play at indoor and outdoor concerts, family celebrations, fairs, agricultural shows, school and church functions and Christmas events. Anyone interested in joining the band or making a booking should call 07939 554646 or email info@thehaworthband.co.uk.
