HAWORTH Festival events are taking place this month.

But, as with last year, activities have been scaled back due to Covid restrictions.

On Thursday, July 15, comedian Tom Binns returns to the festival – this time with his character Ian D Montfort.

Last year Tom introduced festivalgoers to inept hospital DJ Ivan Brackenbury, who performed on his Volkswagen campervan rooftop stage at Ponden Mill near Stanbury to an appreciative socially-distanced audience.

And on Monday, July 19, Patrick Monahan returns for an eighth consecutive year. He is bringing a new show, Classy.

Both events are at Cobbles and Clay, in Main Street. Doors open at 7pm. Social distancing measures will be in place.

Tickets are £10 for each show, or £18 for both, and are available through Eventbrite.

On July 16, Haunted Haworth’s Adam Sargant will be reading terrifying tale The Monkey’s Paw, via Zoom. The event is free but tickets are limited – go to hauntedhaworth.co.uk/booking/the-monkeys-paw.

More details can be found on the Haworth Festival Facebook page.

Organisers had also hoped to stage musical events by Plumhall, Haworth Ukelele Group and Black Horse Fairy, plus a book fair with local authors showcasing their latest work and a poetry evening. But those events have been put on hold owing to the Covid restrictions.

“We are hoping they will go ahead later in the year – or that they will be rolled into next year’s festival,” said spokeswoman, Sarah Granby.

“If anyone would like to put on their own event, please get in touch via our Facebook page.”
