AIREBOROUGH Beer Festival is set to finally go ahead after it was cancelled twice because of the pandemic.

Following the cancellations of June 2020 and June 2021 the festival will return to its regular venue, Guiseley Theatre, from Thursday, September 2 to Saturday, September 4.

The event is a charity fundraiser run jointly by Aireborough Rotary Club, Guiseley Theatre and Rawdon St Peter’s Parish Church.

Over the past Rotary year to 30 June 2021 despite being unable to hold face-to-face meetings Aireborough Rotary has continued its charitable efforts, donating a total of £9,600 to 32 different good causes both at home and abroad.

The club also coordinated the raising of more than £18,000 with the help of 11 District Rotary Clubs, individual donations and the support of its sister club Madras Chenna Patna, to buy oxygen concentrators and personal protective equipment during the pandemic.

A spokesman for Aireborough Rotary said: "The return of the beer festival constitutes a breakthrough for the club in organising a community fund raising event. Therefore, with the safety of all attending a prime concern, numbers coming to the festival will be limited with tickets needing to be booked in advance online at www.guiseleytheatre.org/boxoffice."

Tickets will cost £10 and will include four drink tokens and the event programme. CAMRA members will receive two further drink tokens with their ticket. Additional tokens can then be bought on the day at £5 for three.

The sessions, which must be booked by anyone attending, are Thursday, September 2 from 7pm to 10.30pm.

Friday, September 3 from 12 Noon to 4.30pm.

Friday, September 3 from 5.30pm to 10.30 pm.

Saturday, September 4 from 12 Noon to 4.30pm.

Saturday, September 4 from 5.30pm to 10.30pm.

The sessions will also include live music, with Cornell Daley on Thursday evening, Rick Hoddy and Neon Dice on Friday evening, Melody on Saturday afternoon, and Nigel Passey and The Resistance on Saturday evening.

The selection of beers this year is based on the theme “A Trip to the Seaside” - with beers obtained from Breweries that are on the route from Guiseley to the East Coast. So far these include Yorkshire Heart, Wold Top, the Great Yorkshire Brewery, Atom and Hambleton.

There will also be a Gin Bar with Gins from local specialist The Artful Pour. In addition Cider and Prosecco will be available.

A selection of food will also be available to buy.

There are also opportunities to sponsor Beer Barrels and Cider boxes. For further information on this contact Graham Davies gdavies621@btinternet.com.
