A HARDEN garden centre staged an 18th-birthday bash – for its resident parrot Elvis!

Woodbank hosted a fun-packed weekend, including fairground rides and games. Visitors could get-up close with creatures such as pythons, chameleons, sulcata tortoises and monitor lizards, brought along by Into the Wild Animal Experiences.

Volunteers from Manorlands’ Gilstead & Eldwick and Bingley fundraising support groups donned mascot outfits and raised £1,150 for the Sue Ryder hospice. Hedgehog Emergency Rescue, Bingley, Yorkshire (HERBY) had a stall. Harden-based About the Bees showcased its honey and shared information about the importance of bees and beekeeping. And there was a chance to win a pooch portrait session with Canine Creatives, which was supporting Aireworth Dogs in Need.

Sally Corry, for Woodbank, said: “We have a party for Elvis each year, but this time we wanted to make it special. The weekend was a huge success and we are grateful to everybody who attended and to our team.”
