JOHN Normington – who died last year, aged 90 – worked in Keighley Reference Library for nearly four decades.
During that time – for part of which he served alongside local historian, the late Dr Ian Dewhirst – John amassed a vast collection of slides. Here is a small selection, contributed by his daughter Liz Hornby.
John began his working life at the library and after a period of national service, returned there in 1949. He took early retirement in 1984.
He was also a caving enthusiast and a member of the Good Time Jazz Band.
