A SCHOOL has created a curriculum which puts the community at its heart.

Oxenhope Primary School pupils are taking part in a range of activities centred around supporting their area and its residents.

The youngsters have participated in litter-picks, raised money for local charities, supported people affected by the Afghanistan refugee crisis, invited visitors from the community into the school, talked with the area’s police community support officer and written letters to the village council. And the pupils will once again spread festive cheer this year when they sing carols at care homes.

Mrs Alice Jones, headteacher at the 203-pupil school, said: “The curriculum allows the children to understand about the history, people and traditions that make Oxenhope such a lovely village. We have such kind and considerate pupils who always have amazing ideas to support people, so we decided to have this at the centre of all that we do.”
