KEIGHLEY Town Council branched out for its latest full meeting.

It met at the town’s college, for the first time.

Before the meeting, councillors were given a tour of the facilities at the Bradford Road campus by the college’s head of service professions, Kevin Burke.

The initiative was part of moves to forge closer links between the two organisations.

Town mayor, Councillor Julie Adams, said: “I would like to thank all the staff and students at Keighley College for making us feel so welcome.

“Town councillors were able to see first-hand the fantastic facilities on offer to students in a huge range of courses and subjects.

“The council normally meets at the council chamber in the town hall or in the civic centre, but it was nice to get out into a different venue which enabled access to the town council for people who perhaps aren’t aware of the work we do right across our community.”

Clare Fitzgerald, head of business engagement at the college, said: “We’re proud to be at the heart of our community and were delighted to host the recent town council meeting. It was fantastic for us to be able to showcase the college’s facilities, particularly our new T-level area, which includes a hospital ward. These facilities are an innovative addition, providing students with routes to apprenticeships and employment.”
