A HISTORIC locomotive is returning to action ‘on home soil’ after a hugely-successful few months away.
The 45596 Bahamas has completed a summer programme of mainline operation, with no fewer than 11 excursions between August and this month.
Most of the trips were from London, marking the first time ever that the loco had ventured in and out of the capital’s mainline stations under the ownership of the Ingrow-based Bahamas Locomotive Society.
Bahamas also visited the Nene Valley Railway in August and starred at its Jubilee Gala weekend.
The engine will be in steam at the Keighley & Worth Valley on October 31.
“This is a great chance for people locally to ride behind the loco,” said Keith Whitmore, for the Bahamas Locomotive Society.
“It will be a celebration following a successful few months.”
