A RETIRED Keighley teacher has completed a marathon challenge in support of Dementia UK.
Phil Lynch, 70, took part in the Yorkshire Marathon – and has so far raised over £1,300 for the charity.
He completed the 26.2-mile route, at York, in four hours 31 minutes.
“I just managed to get over the line!” said Phil, who was at Holy Family School for 36 years. He taught history and was head of the sixth form.
“The amount raised far exceeds my expectations and I would like to thank everybody who has contributed – past students, colleagues, family and friends.”
Donations can still be made, at justgiving.com/fundraising/philip-lynch5.
Phil is a park run enthusiast, completed the London Marathon in 2006, has taken on the Great North Run several times and also recently ran the Leeds Half Marathon.
