KEIGHLEY Film Club continues its programme this month with a screening of Ammonite.
The 2020 romantic drama – written and directed by Francis Lee – is loosely based around the life of British palaeontologist Mary Anning, played by Kate Winslet.
The film centres on a speculative romantic relationship between Anning and Charlotte Murchison, played by Saoirse Ronan.
Gemma Jones, James McArdle, Alec Secareanu and Fiona Shaw also star.
The film – which has a 15 certificate and runs for 117 minutes – had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last September.
It was released in the UK in March this year.
Alan Watkinson, for the film club, said: “Mary encouraged Charlotte to take an interest in fossils. The growing interest became intertwined with personal issues which evolved eventually into a passionate love affair.”
The screening is at Keighley Picture House on Sunday, November 21, at 6pm. Non-members are welcome.
