TWO cousins from Wilsden cycled the length of Britain to raise money for Manorlands.
Gary Bates, 62, and Geoff Cordingley, 69, coined-in over £4,000 for the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice by taking on the Land’s End to John O’Groats challenge.
And they completed the mammoth effort despite setbacks.
Gary broke his collarbone shortly after beginning training and was only given the all-clear to ride 16 days before the start of the challenge, whilst Geoff was thrown from his bike and suffered two fractures in his neck.
But the pair were determined to support the hospice, which cared for Gary’s mum – and Geoff’s aunt – Joan Bates, before she died in December, 2019.
Gary said: “Cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats was a long-held ambition for both of us and we really wanted to do it to show our appreciation for the wonderful work Manorlands does.”
