A VOLUNTARY organisation is urging people to ‘give the gift of kindness’ this Christmas.

The St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP), an international organisation, is launching its Christmas Kindness Appeal, to raise money for the work of the SVP in communities across the country.

The SVP Centre in Bradford is renowned for its support of families at Christmas, providing hot meals, food parcels, presents for children and young people who are suffering any kind of hardship.

St Vincent de Paul Society, National President Helen O’Shea said: “Every Christmas many of us spend time searching for the perfect gift to give our loved ones, and all too often end up giving them something they don’t really need, or perhaps even want.

But make a donation to the SVP this Christmas and you can be sure you are giving someone who has very little exactly what they need most.

All donations received to the Christmas Kindness Appeal will be matched pound-for-pound up to a total value of £45,000, thanks to the generosity of some of the Society’s major donors.
