LAYCOCK farmer Andrew Walker and his family were the cream of the crop at a dairy event.
They took the champion title with a 34kg commercial heifer at Skipton Auction Mart’s annual Christmas Craven Dairy Auction.
The heifer then sold for the day's top price of £2,580 to show judge Kevin Midgley, from Thorpe Bassett.
And another show entry from the same home achieved the next-highest sale figure, of £2,380.
In total, four animals – having competed against each other in the heifer-in-milk class – sold for over £2,000.
The event was hailed as a success, with a packed ringside – including some new buyers – and a full clearance achieved.
The final Craven Dairy Auction sale of the year is on Monday, December 13.
