A CHRISTMAS crafts event is taking place in Silsden.

The event, on Saturday, December 11, is one of a series of activities being staged by housebuilder Barratt Developments Yorkshire West as part of a partnership with the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.

People are invited to go along to Barratt's Saxon Dene development between 10am and 11am.

Sam Wood, sales director with the company, said: "The event will encourage children to think about the natural world and how they can use things like leaves, sticks and plants to create pieces of art. Did you know that glitter is plastic and can harm wildlife? This session will show that natural materials are just as exciting.

"Anybody is welcome to come along and participate.

"As part of our partnership with the trust, we are hosting a range of community-led activities from the development over the next few months."

This Saturday, the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust hosts a litter pick in Silsden, which starts from Saxon Dene at 10am.

Sarah Robinson, corporate partnerships officer at the trust, said: "It is wonderful to see Barratt Homes Yorkshire West so invested in connecting local communities with wildlife."
