A KEIGHLEY company has sealed success in a coveted awards scheme.

Viking Industrial Products has been crowned Industrial Retail Specialist of the Year in the Yorkshire Prestige Awards.

Judges described the Hard Ings Road firm – a specialist distributor of tapes, adhesives and sealants – as "a trusted leader" within the industry.

The Yorkshire Prestige Awards, run by information services provider Corporate LiveWire, recognise small and medium-sized businesses that have proven to be the best in their markets over the past year.

All shortlisted companies have to support their nomination with evidence of their work, positive feedback from clients, and information about previous accreditations and recognition – as well as highlighting the most outstanding parts of their business.

The judging panel bases its decisions on factors such as service excellence, quality of the product, innovative practices, value, ethical or sustainable methods of working and consistency in performance.

Viking was noted for its affiliation with a number of "renowned" manufacturers, particularly the multi-national conglomerate 3M.

Since its formation, Viking has cemented a 'preferred distributor' status partnership with 3M and remains its number one online partner in this country.

Prestige Awards chief executive officer Osmaan Mahmood – who presented the Industrial Retail Specialist of the Year accolade in a ceremony at Hazlewood Castle & Spa, Tadcaster – said: "Viking remains a trusted leader within the industry.

"Judges were impressed by the extensive range of products, as well as the exceptional customer service which ensures all clients get the product that best suits their individual needs."

Established in 1969, Viking continues to be run by the Bennett family, with managing director Melanie Bennett working alongside her parents Colin – the sales and marketing director – and Pat, purchasing director, plus a 20-strong team.

Melanie said: "We are delighted and proud to receive this award, which is testament to the hard work of the whole team."

Recently, Viking secured a UK-wide distribution deal with Enimac.

Viking will market and sell the Italy-based firm’s five-strong range of state-of-the-art adhesive tape application machines.

A demonstration suite has been set-up at Viking’s headquarters to showcase the equipment.

Both companies are premier tape distributors for 3M.

Colin Bennett said: "This deal with Enimac is a real feather in our cap and we clinched it because of our in-depth industry knowledge, web presence and long-time partnership with 3M.

"We are both family-run companies, with over 80 years’ combined experience."
