DEMENTIA Friendly Keighley has been given a £5,625 boost – as it prepares to move to new premises.

The organisation has received the funds from Branshaw Golf Club, at Oakworth.

Dementia Friendly Keighley was the chosen charity of club captain Darren O’Driscoll and ladies' captain Shirley Portlock. Both have personal experiences with the disease.

"This huge amount is a fantastic achievement and will be put to good use getting our new centre operational," said Julie Lintern, manager of Dementia Friendly Keighley.

"We're moving to new premises within the Airedale Shopping Centre next month – the new unit is larger and will allow us to expand our activities. We'll also be extending our opening hours to 9.30am-4pm Monday to Friday.

"We're reliant on donations to enable us to continue our vital work supporting people within our town living with dementia and their carers. A massive thank-you goes to Branshaw Golf Club."
