I AGREE with your correspondent Mr Hinchliffe regarding the massive waste of money on the Aire Valley trunk road crossing project at Steeton/Silsden.
Why is further expense necessary to develop a business case? It is pretty obvious a bridge is required and fully justified, providing the costs are sensible.
Why all the fancy cycle tracks and landscaping? All that is required is a simple steel bridge with pedestrian and wheelchair access (similar to the old traditional railway station bridges). The Royal Engineers could do it as a training exercise over a few weekends. The Chinese would have knocked it up in a couple of days!
Another disgusted taxpayer.
