ELIGIBLE people across Bradford district and Craven are being urged to protect themselves against Covid-19 by getting the vaccination – whether it's their first or second dose or the booster.

A number of walk-in and pop-up clinics are available, including in Keighley, this weekend.

District health chiefs say all doses of the vaccine have been shown to be crucial in helping to protect people against the Omicron variant, which has continued to spread rapidly across the country.

Although evidence indicates the variant is not as severe as originally feared, the number of infections is leading to an increase in hospital admissions and disruption to public services in general.

Karen Dawber, senior responsible officer for the vaccination programme in Bradford district and Craven, said: "We’re trying to make it as easy as possible for people to get their vaccinations, whether they are coming for their first or second doses or for their booster, to help with the battle against Omicron.

"Infection rates are having a major impact on all aspects of daily life, so we are asking people to get their jab as soon as possible to help to protect themselves and play their part in keeping going. We all want to be able to return to living a normal life as soon as we can and the more that Covid-19 spreads, the longer we will have to wait. Don’t forget it’s not just boosters – if you have still not had your first or second jab, these are available too."
