A FORMER teacher from Keighley is working with schools across the UK to help them develop their provision.

Aidan Severs is supporting both primary and secondary schools, with developments to their curricula and teaching.

He began his own career as a teacher at Nessfield Primary in Keighley, where he spent five years, before moving to Crossflatts.

He then served in assistant/deputy head roles in Bradford.

In 2015, Mr Severs began blogging his thoughts about education and started writing for various publications – with his writings also featuring in books penned for educators. In addition, he built-up a sizeable social media following.

"It was whilst working for Dixons Academy Trust as primary lead practitioner that I got a taste for working across a number of schools – developing bespoke solutions to meet each school's needs," he said.

Aidan Severs Consulting was launched.

He works in partnership with school leaders and teachers, offering a range of services – from training in teaching methods to coaching and improving curricula.

Mr Severs says he is passionate about the Keighley area and the education of its children.

He grew-up in Utley and Silsden, attending Kildwick and Glusburn primary schools before heading to South Craven School and then attending the sixth form at Ermysted's.

He completed a four-year degree in art, with a QTS teaching qualification, at St Martin's College in Lancaster.

Married to Bec – owner of Three Little Birds Bakery, in Keighley – he has three daughters, aged eight, ten and 11.

"The children of Keighley and Bradford deserve the very best education possible," said Mr Severs.

"There are many schools doing excellent work, and my aim is to support these schools in developing their provision.

"Our children are the future – I want to see their success as individuals and the positive impact that they could have on our area.

"I began my teaching in Keighley and my children attend a Keighley school. Aidan Severs Consulting exists to give something back to the community that started my career and educates my children, and provides us with a home! I'm working with schools across the UK but intend to partner with more locally.

"We use local businesses and I would love to work with others to benefit the town. I also offer consultancy to businesses and charities which need an expert to help them develop their educational outreach offer."
