AN Imam at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust is urging people who have still not been vaccinated against Covid-19 to get their jabs.

Aziz-ur Rehman, who has just received his booster at Airedale Hospital vaccination centre, lives with his extended family and said he recognised the importance of protecting himself and others against the virus.

He said it was also vital due to his role at the trust, which involves him seeing people on wards, in prayer rooms and the community.

"In my role with the chaplaincy team I don't know whether someone has Covid unless they choose to tell me," he said.

"People I know who are vaccinated feel safer around their friends and loved ones in the knowledge that – as a group – they are all protected.

"The more people who get vaccinated, the safer we become.

"Getting the jab and booster is the responsible thing to do as it keeps your friends, family and other people safe."

The NHS Covid vaccination programme for Bradford district and Craven recently achieved a one-million-jabs-delivered milestone – including first, second and booster doses.

Vaccinations can be booked online at nhs.uk/covid-vaccine or by calling 119.
