FREE places are being offered on a training course aimed at people responsible for traffic management at community events.

Six spots on the one-day course – at Riddlesden St Mary's Primary School on Saturday, May 21 – are being funded by Keighley Big Local.

The Traffic Management for Community Events course will cover legislation, costings and application, a traffic management plan and requirements, and risk assessment.

Those meeting the required standard will receive a certificate of competence and a skills identity card from awarding body Lantra.

Shaun O'Hare, of Keighley Big Local, says: "This training is for you if you need to prove your ability in traffic management for community events or renew your Lantra skills card.

"Our offer is aimed at organisers or individuals who have responsibility for traffic management at community events in the Keighley East ward and in particular the Keighley Big Local area.

"The training is for those who work with the local authority to host galas and village fairs where tasks include guiding vehicles, maintaining emergency routes, displaying signs and notices, and dealing with pedestrian control."

The remaining six places on the course will be charged at £110 per trainee.
