A MAJOR annual fundraiser in aid of Manorlands is set to start on a high note.

The Friday-night 'launch' event at the Bronte Vintage Gathering will feature the acclaimed U2 tribute band, New2.

It comprises lead singer Frank Farkas, guitarist Wayne Marshall, Steeve Dàvies on drums and bass player Gary Stevens.

Also featuring at the May 6 event – on the showfield in Haworth Road, Cullingworth – are Ethan Sharp and DJ Donkin.

Plus there will be attractions including a Tiki bar, tarot reader, food and a holiday prize draw.

The Bronte Vintage Gathering itself will run throughout the weekend at the showfield, with the usual array of activities and entertainment.

All proceeds go to the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.

Over the years, the gathering has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds.

The latest coined-in a record £37,111 – with the Friday-night event alone raising £6,044.

"The event always raises a lot of much-needed funds for the hospice – it's such a wonderful cause," said a spokesperson.

"The last one was a record breaker and it would be amazing if this year we could raise even more!"
