BRITISH romantic drama Mothering Sunday is the latest offering from Keighley Film Club.
The film – set in the wake of the First World War – follows the life of Jane Fairchild, an orphaned maid who spends Mothering Sunday with her wealthy lover.
One reviewer describes the passionate affair between Jane – played by Odessa Young – and Paul Sheringham (Josh O'Connor) as giving the film "the spice that Downton Abbey lacks".
Mothering Sunday – which has a 15 certificate and runs for 105 minutes – also stars Olivia Colman and Colin Firth, and there is a now-rare movie appearance by Glenda Jackson. It is directed by Eva Husson.
The screening is at Keighley Picture House on Sunday, May 15, at 6pm. Non-members are welcome.
