POLICE have today issued an appeal for witnesses following a crash which left the driver with serious injuries.

North Yorkshire roads policing unit says the accident occurred on the A629, near Cononley Lane Ends, at around 12.15am last Saturday (May 14).

A white Audi A6, believed to have been travelling in convoy with a black Volkswagen Golf and a white Audi A3 towards Cross Hills, left the road and struck a drystone wall and lamppost.

The 23-year-old driver, from Bradford, suffered serious facial and abdominal injuries. He was taken to Airedale Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.

It’s believed the three vehicles had travelled together from the centre of Skipton.

The driver of the black Volkswagen Golf, a 20-year-old man from Bradford, and the driver of the white Audi A3 – a 19-year-old man also from Bradford – were both arrested on suspicion of causing injury by dangerous driving. They have both been released under investigation.
