DEMENTIA Friendly Keighley has received a £500 boost from the town's market traders.

The cash was raised through activities including a visit to the market hall pre-Christmas last year by Santa.

Yvonne Bryant, for the traders, said more activities were planned this year and that the grotto now had a permanent home within the market and would be revamped for seasonal events.

Helen Charters, information and support co-ordinator at Dementia Friendly Keighley, said donations and fundraising opportunities had been badly hit by the pandemic so the market's support was "extremely appreciated".

And the charity's manager, Julie Lintern, said: "Traders have had such a difficult time over the last two years, yet they have put their efforts into raising funds to support the community.

"I applaud their efforts now more than ever. It's these actions that create such a friendly community."
