A 'LEGENDS' charity football match takes place at Silsden next month.

Former local rivals Silsden AFC and Keighley Phoenix will do battle once again, but all in a good cause – they are raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The event takes place at the Silsden AFC ground, in Keighley Road, on Friday, July 15.

Gates will open at 6pm. There will be a game involving Steeton Juniors U10s and Bingley Juniors U10s ahead of the senior match, which kicks off at 7.30pm. There will then be a comedian and raffle in the clubhouse.

Admission is by donation, £5 minimum.

"During the 90s and early 2000s both Silsden and Keighley Phoenix enjoyed lots of success locally and became bitter rivals – before Silsden progressed through the ranks into semi-professional football," said a spokesperson.

"Andy Geary (Silsden) and Paul Ettenfield (Phoenix) played a huge part in masterminding both sides' success and along with Jason Mcnulty (Silsden) they will take charge of the teams on an action-packed evening. Lots of ex-stars will be on show.

"The event will hopefully draw a big crowd. It would be great for people to come along and raise as much money as possible for the charity."
