A GROWING stairlift company has moved into a new £6 million-plus purpose-built manufacturing facility in Keighley.

Platinum Stairlifts says the move – to state-of-the-art premises at Foundry Park, off Dalton Lane – will mean more jobs.

And production levels could be as much as doubled.

The launch of the new 58,000sqft site is the culmination of 18 months' design and planning, with a team of locally-based architects, contractors and suppliers.

For more than a decade, Platinum – which last year celebrated its 25th anniversary – has manufactured its products out of three separate units at Cross Hills.

The company supplies over 10,000 stairlifts a year to a network of partners across the UK, Europe, North America and Australia.

But the launch at the new site will pave the way for greater expansion.

"As the company has expanded we have continually faced capacity constraints – as demand outstripped supply capability," said a spokesperson.

"This investment in the new facility will put the whole production process under one roof and completely change how we operate.

"The new layout and equipment at Foundry Park will enable more efficient ways of working and has the potential to double the number of stairlifts manufactured.

"Backed by NorthEdge Capital, the company currently employs more than 250 people – many of whom will now be able to take full advantage of improved transport links, electric car charging, modern changing facilities and a fully-equipped new canteen.

"As production is set to increase rapidly, the company will be looking to develop the workforce and grow its team by working with local agencies and colleges to create pathways for apprentices. Roles range from welding and fabrication, CNC machine operation, manufacturing quality and process improvement to CAD technicians, sales and more.

"We have big plans for future growth by working closely with partners to develop our products, continue to improve facilities and attract the right talent to join us on this exciting journey."

Anyone interested in a role with the company is asked to email their CV to HR@platinumstairlifts.com.

Last autumn, the company – which intends retaining its head office at The Crossings, Cross Hills – strengthened its global sales team.

It appointed Gareth Deegan as head of sales and Fabrice Moisset as territory manager-France.

Mr Deegan said at the time the new facility would "bring further opportunity and ultimately allow us to provide an even better service for our partners".
